We all want to know the steps to build a successful money-making blog on a theme we know something about. (Parenting, wood working, generating leads for local businesses, or selling mugs with sayings).

The dream is to create a money-making ‘cash machine’ that will bring in $100 to $500 per day.
But it’s knowing WHY you want or need to do the work, that will carry you through the moments when “life gets in the way”. You need “clarity” to know what to do next.
What will drive you onwards is having a good reason, a gut reason, to do what must be done. So here I’m going to give you 9 good reasons to build your own money-making blog.
Choose the one that motivates YOU!
A money-making blog as a side hustle or a retirement plan?
First, I want you to listen to Marcus Campbell’s video on the dotcom lifestyle he now leads with his family. He was 21 years old, and his wife was expecting. They lived in a beat-up mobile home. Marcus just barely made it through high school.
Today with hundreds of mini sites on all kinds of subjects he lives very comfortably and works out of his backyard office. Listen to his story HERE.
HE just did it! All you need is a reason. They founded a family and he wanted to have the time and the money to enjoy his children.
He didn’t want to waste his life between the four walls of an office (or in traffic jams) making someone else rich. Check out the Marcus Campbell story here.
So here are the 9 good reasons to do what it takes to start your own money-making blog. Check out Marcus’ YouTube channel HERE
1) Retirement plan – a money-making blog could be the solution
Many seniors are wondering when they will be able to retire with some money in their pockets. Will I be able to keep my job until 65? Will I have to work until I am 72 years old to get a full pension? I just don’t feel like working like a dog anymore. I just can’t keep up…

First, who says you must work until you are 65 years old. It’s not a matter of age but having enough money coming in to retire. You are maybe older (I’m 72 in 2024) but you can make money from the experience you have acquired.
Learn how to write a book to publish on Amazon, a video training series or email courses. There are people who are smart enough to invest a bit of money in a mentor and gain years of learning time by using other people’s know-how (like yours).
There are thousands of bloggers who have multiple streams of income coming in. They do ‘niche marketing’ and offer products through affiliate programs like that of Amazon, Commission Junction, Click Bank, JV Zoo that specific groups of people are interested in. They make a good living and only work 10 to 15 hours a week.
It would be a good idea to get to know these people, right? And you can by listening to their videos or podcasts. Even if your goal is 5 years away, the best thing to do is to start working towards it now. You can get your time investment back very quickly and, who knows, maybe you will reach your goal earlier than you think!
2) A woman’s dream
Most women have a financial disadvantage in the working world. They just don’t make as much as the men for the same job.
Well, this is not at all true of the Internet “blogging world.” Bloggers freely share their insights and knowledge and there isn’t a competitive spirit. There is room for everybody because One Billion visitors per day are looking for information you can provide on the internet!
This seems to be closer to the woman’s way of doing things. Imagine being able to be a stay-at-home-mom… having the time and the money to enjoy it?

When people asked me if my wife was a stay-at-home mom, I always presented her as a “domestic engineer”. She raised 5 kids and became a specialist
- in logistics,
- crisis management,
- private chauffeur,
- event planning and
- motivational coach, and no doubt, much more.
Who else wants the time (and the money needed), not losing a single moment of those precious moments with the children (and your lover too). All the while, being able to share something that you are passionate about: book reviews, container gardening, patchwork, couponing.
Imagine bringing in 3 to 5,000$ a month all the while investing only 10-15 hours a week of your time, would it be worth learning how? Of course it would!
3) Upgrade your personal market value
You develop your professional competence by having a blog. And you stay in contact with the working world even if, for a time, you are unemployed or underemployed.

What can you learn by starting your own money-making blog?
- How to manage and promote a Website.
- How to market a book or product
- Better your writing skills. According to Reader’s Digest your mastery of vocabulary is one of the decisive factors in getting high paying jobs.
- Learning to get out of your ‘comfort zone’
- Develop a network of positive, active contacts that can coach you to success.
- Learn how to set a goal and achieve it.
Do you think a boss would fire a person like you? He would be crazy not to keep (or hire) a positive, idea creating, goal setting person like you (or like you have become). You are worth your weight in gold.
Remember: The WHY is much more important than the HOW? Hardly anyone will do what it takes to go to the end of a project if they don’t know WHY they would sacrifice television time, fooling around time or soap opera time. WHY make the mental effort to learn? The easy way out is to just coast along, thinking you have finished school a long time ago.
The fact is that “turtles get ahead by sticking their neck out”. And people who succeed, keep learning new things right up to their last day.
Let’s go on to the next three reasons in Part Two
